This perspective is focused on understanding what God is doing by looking at what God has done in the past. Since we are a part of God’s Church, this perspective, of course, gives us the insight we need for moving forward.
The blog posts today are examining typical ways we look at organizational structure and money. Each post has some Biblical reasons that we cannot look at things that way. Our goal here is not to be naysayers who simply shoot down all the alternatives around us. Rather, we are trying to see God’s picture for our lives here so we can walk together with God in this area as well.
Scripture has much to say about work, finances, and the Church. Since there is much to unpack here (and this set of posts is already getting quite long), we will take a look at this perspective over the next set of Blueprints “Dollars and Cents” posts, next week.
One post will look at God’s original design for work, resources, and living.
Another post will look at the Old Covenant God made with Israel and how resources played into that picture.
Another post will look at the New Covenant God made with the Church and how that looked in the early Church of the New Testament.
We will then take our learnings from the first two and boil them down into principles for God’s Church in general.
Finally, we will apply these principles to ourselves as individuals and to the finances of Life Bridge.
Once we have done that, we will have God’s perspective on work and money as well as a Biblical perspective for looking at the numbers going forward. My hope and prayer is that this will help us all participate with joy in God’s Mission to empower one more to walk together with God.
